Students are asked to ponder the symbolism used with the four major characters. As a creative writing assignment, I ask students to create a biography poem on Hester, Pearl, Chillingworth or Dimmesdale, incorporating a symbol with which they are associated.
Included is the assignment sheet with activity and example bio poem for students to use while creating their own bio poem. I have included a completed bio poem of Scout Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird for your example. Ready to print and pass out during the reading or after completing the novel.
