CARES is a free program available to Medi-Cal patients in the San Joaquin Valley. CARES reduces indoor environmental asthma triggers and assists patients in better utilizing asthma medications to manage their condition.
The SJVAir Network provides real-time air quality data and alerts to Valley residents based on a network of 400 + air monitors. Residents can download a free app that automatically identifies the nearest monitor and provides notifications when the air is unhealthy. Residents can also sign up on the website to receive text message alerts based on specific monitors near their home, school or work.
The EV Equity Program helps Valley communities transition to electric vehicle s (EV) by providing access to incentives that 1) provide up to $12,000 for lower-income residents to purchase an EV and 2) cover 50%-100% of the cost for local governments and businesses in disadvantaged communities to install L3 fast chargers to support EV drivers living in multi-family housing or who are unable to charge at home .
The Environmental Health Research Program is a collaboration with leading universities, including UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, UC Merced, UC Irvine, UCLA, and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, to study the health effects of indoor and outdoor air pollution on children living in equity communities of the San Joaquin Valley.
